You notice it immediately.

A mixologist leans in, asks what you usually enjoy. Something citrusy? Something bold? Something that tastes like vacation but not too sweet? 

Minutes later, he hands you a cocktail that somehow tastes like you. 

I haven’t even made it to my suite yet.

Later, I find myself in one of the hammocks suspended over shallow turquoise water. The sea gently splashes against my feet. For a moment, I can’t tell if I’m floating or dreaming.  

I slip off my sandals and let the white sand remind me that yes, this is that kind of place. 

And then, just when I think I’ve found my favorite corner of the resort, I wander upward. 

The INSPIRA Rooftop Pool reveals a different perspective entirely. 

From the pool, the Caribbean stretches into the horizon like a living postcard. Lush greens frame the property, and the sea shimmers in the distance.

NUUP Spa® Playa Mujeres: Time to Slow Down 

Just when I think the day couldn’t possibly soften any further, I make my way to NUUP Spa® Playa Mujeres. 

The transition is subtle. 

The light shifts. 
The air feels warmer. 
Quieter. 

Housed within internationally awarded architecture inspired by restorative nature, the space feels serene before I even check in. 

I begin with the hydrotherapy ritual. 

Steam first, dense, enveloping, the kind that makes you exhale deeper than usual. 
Then the sauna, dry heat wrapping around my shoulders like it knows exactly where I carry stress. 
A sudden cold plunge that wakes every inch of skin. 
Sensory showers, and more. 

By the time I step into my treatment room, my body is ready to surrender. 

The bed adjusts gently beneath me, adapting to my body before I even settle in.  

Warm stones rest along my back. 
Low vibrations hum softly in the background. 
At one point, I can’t tell if I’m drifting or fully awake, just suspended somewhere comfortable in between. 

When it’s over, I sit for a moment longer than necessary. 

My shoulders feel lighter. 
My thoughts less crowded. 
My skin, impossibly refreshed. 

And the day still has plans for me. 

The Pause Before Evening 

Back in my suite, my butler has already secured my dinner reservation and prepared a bubble bath infused with salts. 

I rinse off the ocean, still faintly scented with coconut sunscreen, and sink into warm water while the late afternoon light filters in.

Dinner tonight is at María Dolores by Edgar Núñez®, tucked in the heart of the resort, just steps from my suite. 

The restaurant, recognized by both Michelin and Forbes, feels intimate yet quietly powerful.  

The menu reads like a love letter to contemporary Mexican cuisine. 

The service is spectacular without ever being stiff. My server leans in to explain textures, origins, suggestions. Recommendations feel personal, not rehearsed. 

Helmed by acclaimed chef Edgar Núñez, the kitchen reinterprets Mexico’s vast culinary heritage through a refined, modern lens. You might encounter a Sonoran-inspired shrimp taco elevated with precision. Or a slow-cooked quail paired with mole coloradito carrying subtle Oaxacan reminiscences.

And just like that, I found myself spending the day at a Four-Star Forbes Travel Guide resort… unwinding in its Four-Star spa… and ending the night at a Five-Star restaurant, the only one in Latin America with that distinction.
